FEWA Foundation’s purpose in awarding scholarships is to provide assistance to children of families involved in diverse workplaces, who aspire to pursue scholastic endeavors post-high school or equivalent. Such assistance and awards are not limited to schooling or educational training in the United States.
GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR FEWA FOUNDATION SCHOLASTIC AWARDS
- Eligibility:
- Must be a son or daughter of an Employer or Worker in a company with a diverse work force.
- Must pursue post high-school scholastic or educational endeavors. (i.e. college, trade school, culinary school, etc…)
- Requirements:
- One recommendation from FEWA member (either employer-member or worker-member is sufficient). Other recommendations will be considered (limit 3).
- Proof that such applicant’s parent; stepparent or legal guardian is employed in a diverse workplace.
- One copy of transcripts and presentation of grade point average or grade point average equivalent.
- Personal Statement (Essay – Describing Career Objectives – 500 word max.)
- Proof of admission to a post-high school academic institution (i.e. letter of acceptance to the school and contact information of such school’s admissions officer). Payment will be made to the educational institution.
- Budget:
- FEWA Foundation board of directors at their discretion may direct funds in the amount to approximately $15,000 annually.
- This fund shall be divided in half whereby two $6000 funds shall be established. The worker and employer member scholarship funds shall each award three $1000 scholarships and six $500 scholarships annually if the funds allow.
- Criteria:
- FEWA Foundation scholarship may only be received once per individual.
- Family members of contributors to the scholarship fund are not eligible for scholarships.
- Children of officers and directors of FEWA and FEWA Foundation are not eligible to receive a scholarship.
